Finally clicked on why my seams kept showing through

Been installing for about 6 years now and I only just figured out that I was stretching too tight on the seams. I did a living room in Wichita last Thursday, about 400 square feet, and the customer called me back two days later complaining about a line. Turns out I was using too much power on my knee kicker near the seam and it was pulling the backing apart. I checked my older jobs and sure enough, the ones where I backed off a touch looked way better. Anyone else deal with this or is it just me that took half a decade to learn it?
