Cat ran through a fresh glue bed, the aftermath was brutal

Last Friday in a condo over in Arlington, I had a full living room laid out with fresh adhesive and this homeowner's cat decided it was a race track, leaving perfect little paw prints and fur stuck in every step. I had to pull up the whole first row and re-do it while the cat watched me from a bookshelf like it was my fault. Anyone else have a pet turn a job into a disaster, and how do you keep them out of the room without locking up the owner?

Yeah, my dog once "helped" me lay tile, we're still finding toe beans in the grout.
