Wasted $180 on a fancy shooting board jig I could've built in ten minutes
I finally broke down and bought this fancy aluminum shooting board from some online woodworking store. Thought it would be this game changer for perfect miters and trimming dovetails. Got it in the mail, set it up on my bench, and honestly my old plywood one I threw together three years ago works just as good. The expensive one actually slid around more because it didn't have the same rubber grip I taped on the bottom of my homemade version. Felt like a total idiot wasting $180 when I could've spent maybe $12 on a sheet of MDF and some sandpaper. Has anyone else fallen for the 'premium tool' hype and regretted it?

Did the aluminum one at least come with a warranty or return policy?

300 bucks for an aluminum box is steep even with a warranty. Most of those warranty claims involve shipping it back on your dime which kills the deal. Id just take the L and find something more reliable for the money.
