Tried grinding a chisel on a $30 belt sander and turned a Marples into a butter knife
Read on some forum that a belt sander with a 120 grit belt was the fast way to reset a bevel, so I gave it a shot on an old Marples I did not care much about. Took maybe 4 seconds too long on one side and now the edge is blue and wavy and it will not hold an edge for anything. Anyone got a jig or a method that actually keeps the angle steady, or am I just stuck going back to stones like my old boss in Salem told me to?
