TIL the framing nailer jam that keeps costing guys a full hour is almost always the same dumb thing
Last Tuesday on a deck job in Reno I watched a guy fight a jammed framing nailer for 45 minutes, cussing and pulling nails with his cats paw, before he finally asked me to look. The magazine was fine, the nails were fine, but he had the gun tilted maybe 15 degrees off square when he fired, so the driver was glancing off nail heads and stacking them sideways in the nose. I showed him to keep the nose flat against the plate and press down till the safety clicks, and he ran the rest of the rim joist without one jam. It matters because a jam is rarely the tool's fault, it's almost always how you're holding it against the wood. Any of you run into new guys who want to blame the nails or the gun before they check their angle?
