TIL I should have been pre-drilling my pilot holes on hard maple the whole time
Snapped my third 1/8 inch bit in two weeks on a 60 inch maple countertop job in Des Moines and my 62 year old neighbor who has been building cabinets since 1979 asked if I was even running a pilot first, which I was not because the pine I learned on never needed it, so now I am questioning everything else I picked up on pine and never rechecked on hardwoods. What other pine habits are you guys still carrying over without thinking about it?
