Question about the actual weight of a sheet of plywood
I was moving some 3/4 inch birch plywood in the shop yesterday and it felt way heavier than usual. I looked it up and found out a standard 4x8 sheet can weigh over 70 pounds, depending on the wood and glue. I always just guessed before. What's the heaviest sheet material you've had to haul up a flight of stairs?

Honestly, I gotta disagree with Linda. A hand truck with straps is cool and all, but it doesn't always make it safe. Ngl, I've hauled full sheets of 3/4 inch MDF up a narrow staircase by myself, and it's all about how you brace your back and take it slow. The real weight is the MDF though, that stuff is brutal. A 4x8 sheet can hit 90 pounds easy, and it has no flex which makes it way harder on your arms. Tbh, I'd rather haul three sheets of birch than one sheet of MDF up any stairs.

Oh man, don't even get me started! I once tried to carry a sheet of 3/4 inch MDF by myself. That stuff is like a solid brick! I made it about three steps before I had to admit defeat and wait for my brother to help. My arms were sore for two days. Never again.

My cousin moved a full sheet of that solo last week. He just used a proper hand truck with straps, no big deal. Sometimes the right gear makes all the difference.
