Jobsite near the water changed my whole approach to fasteners

We did a deck rebuild in Bellingham last spring, right on the bay. The homeowner swore by stainless steel screws, but I figured galvanized was fine for the framing. After 4 months the galvanized ones were already showing white crust and the deck boards started lifting. I had to go back and redrill half the thing, which ate a whole weekend. Now I check the salt air factor before I even price out any coastal job. Anyone else had corrosion surprises on marine jobsites, or is it just me?

Salt air eats galvanized fast, stainless is the only way to go on any water job.
