Hit 500 cabinet doors in my shop this week without a single misfit
I've been building cabinets for about 4 years now, mostly for kitchens and bathrooms. Last week I finally hit the 500 door mark, which sounds random but it was a real milestone for me. The first 100 doors I made had so much warping and hinge misalignment I almost gave up. After I got a proper router table and started jointing before glue-up, things changed fast. Has anyone else kept a running count of a specific part they make, or is that just my weird side?

“500 cabinet doors, that’s wild. I kept a tally of every drawer box I cut for a whole year, just to see if I was getting better or wasting wood. I hit 212 before I stopped counting, but I remember the exact moment my dado joint stopped giving me fits, sort of like your router table turning point. Keeping count is not weird at all, it’s proof you stuck with it when the first batch made you want to quit. I bet you can look at door number 500 and just laugh at door number 50, right? Those early ones probably still haunt your offcuts pile.
