Heard a guy at the lumber yard say hand planes are dead. I almost laughed in his face.

Started showing my buddy how to tune up an old Stanley plane last weekend. He couldn't believe how smooth the finish was compared to his new power sander. Said his grandpa would be proud he finally learned the real way.

Swear nobody talks about how much quieter hand tools are. That screech from a power sander drives me nuts. You can actually hear the wood talking when you're planing. Feel the grain change before it tears out. My neighbor once asked if I was even working because I wasn't making any racket. Checked a whole door edge in silence while he was wearing earplugs across the street.
