Had to choose between a 3-inch or 4-inch finish nail for a tricky crown molding corner

I went with the 4-inch for more hold, but the angle was so tight I ended up putting a nail clean through the drywall into the neighbor's apartment. Heard a faint 'what the heck?' through the wall. Anyone ever have a fastener go that far off course?

Saw a guy on a jobsite once drill a screw right into a water line inside a wall.

Honestly how bad could it really be? I mean it's just a small hole, right? Maybe you slap some tape on it and call it a day. Seems like people make a huge deal out of stuff that's a pretty easy fix.

Ugh man that's rough. But honestly @sage_lewis10 that tape fix might just work if it's a tiny nail hole and the neighbor doesn't notice. But yeah that's a solid oops moment. I've had a finish nail go clean through a stud and pop out the other side of some trim before. Felt like a total clown. Had to fill the hole and repaint the whole board.
