Am I the only one who hates MDF with a burning passion

Did a job last week for a kitchen reno in Austin and the client insisted on MDF for all the cabinet doors. By day three I had dust absolutely everywhere, my sinuses were wrecked, and the stuff barely held screws. Then I had to go back yesterday to fix a hinge because the board started swelling near the sink. Why do people keep using this garbage when plywood or even solid pine lasts way longer? Anyone else refuse to install MDF cabinets or am I just being dramatic?

Hate it right along with you man. That particle board junk is everywhere now because people just look at the price tag and don't think about how they'll be replacing it in two years. It's the same deal with cheap laminate flooring or those hollow interior doors, nobody wants to pay for quality upfront but they'll blow twice the cash on repairs later.

Wait hang on, @the_seth said they had to go back and fix a hinge because the board started swelling? That's next level stuff. It's not even a construction fail at that point, the material itself is literally falling apart from normal moisture.
