A trim carpenter on a job in Portland told me my miters were off by 3 degrees and now I check every joint with a digital angle finder

After he showed me the light gaps with a business card I went home and bought a $40 digital angle finder that same night, has anyone else had their pride stung by an older guy on site?

Well, I disagree. I think he was just being helpful, not cutting you down.

You said he was just being helpful, and I get why you’d see it that way. But I’ve been in these situations before, and the "helpful" comments from him always come with a side of pointing out what you’re doing wrong. Like, if he really wanted to help, he’d ask if you need it first, not just jump in and tell you how to do your job. I’ve started asking people straight up, "Are you trying to help me or correct me?" It usually stops them in their tracks. @miles_grant35, I’d try that next time it happens. You’ll see pretty quick which one he’s actually doing.
