A full week of rain in Portland turned my schedule upside down

I had a whole list of outdoor jobs lined up, but it rained every single day last week. My main project was a cedar deck rebuild that needed three dry days for the framing and sealing. Instead, I spent the week in my shop catching up on indoor trim work and fixing a bunch of old tools. The bright side was finally getting my miter saw dialed in perfectly after putting it off for months. I even built a new rolling cart for it with scrap plywood. Still, losing that much paid work stings, especially with materials already bought and delivered. How do you all handle a week when the weather just shuts down your main plans?

Portland weather used to just make me ANGRY. Now I see a forced shop week as a secret chance to fix all my nagging tool problems. Getting that miter saw perfect probably saved me future hours of frustration.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. It's wild how a few years ago I'd be pacing around the house cursing the rain, and now I'm actually kind of relieved when a storm hits and I've got an excuse to just vanish into the garage for a few hours. There's something really satisfying about taking a tool that's been driving you nuts and finally just fixing it right, you know? Like all that quiet time lets you actually focus on the little details instead of rushing through a job. I think we all have that one tool that's been barely working and we just put up with it for way too long. Good on you for getting that miter saw dialed in, those little wins add up big time.

Totally get that shift in mindset. My garage was a mess of half-broken tools for ages. Finally had a rainy weekend and just went through every cord and blade. Getting the table fence square again was a game changer for quick cuts. It's like the bad weather gives you permission to handle the boring stuff. Now I almost look forward to being stuck inside for a bit.
