That one coworker said 'just fake it til you make it' and I got fired 3 months later
My old supervisor at the Ace Hardware in Portland told me to just bluff my way through hardware questions I didn't know. I nodded along on a complex electrical panel question and sold a guy the wrong breaker, which caused a short in his house. He came back screaming and corporate had to let me go. Has anyone else had bad advice from someone senior that totally backfired?

Same thing happened to me at a car dealership in 2019. Told a guy the car had leather seats. They were vinyl.

Buddy of mine worked at a mattress store and his manager told him to call every mattress "premium latex." Customer complained the bed was too firm and it turned out it was just basic foam. Store had to refund the whole thing and he got written up. You ever get that feeling where you just knew the advice was bad but felt pressured to go along?
