That career coach who told me to 'network harder' was just recycling generic advice from a 2015 blog post

I spent $300 on a session with a coach in Austin last month and all she did was tell me to update my LinkedIn and attend more happy hours, but when I asked her for actual strategies for breaking into technical writing with no formal certs, she just repeated 'just keep reaching out' - has anyone else found these coaches are just rehashing the same old stuff without any real substance?

Did she at least offer to Venmo you half back if the "just keep reaching out" strategy actually worked? Sounds like she's collecting a paycheck straight out of 2015...
