Talking to my old boss made me rethink the 'always be applying' advice
I ran into my first manager, Frank, at the grocery store last week. He said 'I hired you because you stuck with that summer job for two full years, not because you had a fancy resume.' It hit different because now everyone online says you should jump ship every 18 months. Has anyone else found that simple loyalty actually counts for something these days?

But isn't that just one boss's opinion?

I mean, yeah, that's kind of how I feel about it too. One person's take, especially if they're in a position of power, doesn't always reflect what everyone else thinks or experiences. It's easy to feel like that one opinion carries more weight than it should.
