Pulled the trigger on a job offer in Portland, then the company ghosted me

Got a verbal offer from a tech startup in Portland back in March, they said the paperwork was coming within a week. I even told my current boss I was leaving, which was stupid in hindsight. Then the recruiter stopped answering emails and the hiring manager's voicemail box was full after 3 calls. Has anyone else had a company pull an offer at the last second, and did you ever figure out why, or just move on?

Same thing happened to me last fall with a remote marketing gig. I cancelled a vacation to start their onboarding, then the CEO went silent for two weeks and I finally got a generic email saying the position was "restructured." I found out later through a friend of a friend that they lost their funding round right before I was supposed to start, but they were too embarrassed to tell me straight up. Honestly, just move on, if they ghost you before you even work there, that's a giant red flag about how they'd treat you as an employee anyway.
