Pro tip: started writing 3 bullet points before every shift report and it got me a raise
I used to write these long rambling notes at the end of the day and my boss kept saying she could not tell what actually happened. So two months ago I started capping it at 3 bullets: what I did, what went wrong, what I need from her. Took maybe 2 minutes and she stopped asking me follow up questions. At my review in March she brought up the notes and gave me a 4% bump, said it made her job easier. Has anyone else had a small formatting change pay off like that?
Wait, she actually brought up your notes at the review and tied them to the raise? That part is wild to me. Most bosses I have had would never admit something so small made their life easier, let alone put money behind it. Four percent off three bullets is a crazy good trade for two minutes a day. What did the bullets actually look like, were they full sentences or just quick fragments?
