Paid $400 for a resume rewrite and it got me zero calls

I hired a service to redo my resume after being out of work for six months. They made it look nice but it felt generic and didn't highlight my project management skills. Has anyone had a good experience with a different type of career coach instead?

My cousin had a similar thing happen, paid for a fancy resume and got nothing. She ended up finding a career coach who did practice interviews and helped her talk about her projects better. The resume was just one part of it. That focus on how to explain her work in calls made a bigger difference. Maybe looking for that kind of help could work better than just a rewrite.

Honestly how bad was your old resume that you needed to pay that much? Tbh a fancy template isn't gonna get you a job if the experience isn't there. Maybe just ask a friend in your field to look it over for free next time. Paying someone who doesn't know your work just seems like a gamble.
