My old manager's 10 minute rule at a Denver office changed how I prep for interviews
Everyone says you need to rehearse answers for hours, and I used to believe that too. Two years ago I sat in on a mock interview day at my old firm in Denver and the hiring manager cut every candidate off at 10 minutes per answer, saying anything longer and the interviewer stops listening. I started practicing my answers out loud with a timer after that, and I got through three rounds at my current job without rambling once. It feels wrong to prep less, but the timer does more than a stack of notes ever did for me. Anyone here tried trimming answers down like that, or do you still go long on purpose?
