My old boss told me in 2019 that I say yes too fast in meetings, and she was right
She said it in my review at a marketing job in Columbus, that I kept agreeing to stuff before I even understood it, and after that I started waiting until the end of meetings to answer so I could actually think, and it changed how my whole team worked with me, so has anyone else had a boss call out something like that and actually been glad they did?

Like the kind of story that sounds good looking back but probably had more going on. People say yes fast in meetings all the time, it is not some huge flaw, it is usually just being new or wanting to seem on board. I get that slowing down helped you, but was it really her calling it out that did it, or did you just get older and more sure of yourself around then anyway? Not saying the advice was bad, just that bosses say stuff like this constantly and most of it goes in one ear and out the other. Feels like you are giving her credit for something you probably would have figured out on your own.
