My old boss in Spokane told me to skip the OSHA 30 and get a Class A instead, worst call I ever made
Back in 2019 my boss at a fence company in Spokane pulled me aside and said the OSHA 30 was a waste of $200 and I should put that money toward a Class A CDL because "truck drivers always eat." I did it, and 8 months later I was driving 60 hours a week making $19 an hour with no overtime, while the guys who got their OSHA 30 moved into foreman spots at $28. I'm back in fencing now and doing fine, but it set me back almost 2 years. Has anyone else taken advice from a boss who was clearly just trying to keep you in a certain lane?

My buddy Dave got the same speech at a tire shop in Reno, skipped his ASE certs for a delivery route and spent two years at $17 an hour. His old manager just didn't want to lose his cheapest guy
