My nephew asked me last year why I even had business cards. I had to admit I'd been treating networking like a weird chore for a decade.

Maybe we've been doing it backwards. The card should be for after you've had a real chat, not a thing you hand out hoping a chat happens. It turns a connection into a receipt instead of an invite.
