I thought asking for a raise was a surefire way to get on my boss's bad side.

For years, I just kept my head down and hoped my work would be noticed. Then my friend, who works in tech, told me to write down every single thing I did that saved money or brought in new business. I did that for three months, made a list, and asked for a meeting. I was shocked when my boss said yes to a $2 an hour increase right then and there. Has anyone else had a good experience just by showing the numbers?

Wait, they just said yes on the spot? That's wild! I've always heard you have to wait for them to "review it" or "get back to you." Just having the proof ready changed the whole game, huh? Good for you for actually doing the work to track it all.

Was it really on the spot though? They probably had to check the numbers with someone else. Having the proof just meant they could do that check right away.

Wow, they said yes on the spot? That's crazy, I figured they'd always want to check with someone else first. Tracking all that work for three months sounds like a hassle but it clearly paid off for you. Good job making it happen.
