I lost my biggest house cleaning client on a Tuesday and picked up two better ones by Friday
Last month a client on Lake Avenue in Pasadena told me she was going with a bigger company and I was out $340 a month just like that. I was pretty low about it for two days, then I called up two old clients I had said no to before because I was too busy. Both of them said yes on the same Friday, and one pays $60 more per visit than the one I lost. It was a good reminder that this work comes and goes and one bad day does not mean much. Has anyone else had a client drop them and then ended up better off a week later?
The same thing happened to me two winters back when a lady in South Pas let me go because her sister moved in and took over the cleaning. I was sick about it for a week, then I posted in a neighborhood group and got three calls in one day. One of them turned into a regular every other week gig that pays $25 more per visit. My advice is keep a list of everyone who ever asked if you had room in your schedule, because those are the first people to call when a spot opens up. And don't wait to reach out, do it the same week while you're still mad about losing the other one. That fire in your belly makes you pick up the phone faster.
