I was tracking my search in a spreadsheet after my teaching contract ended, and the number just kept climbing with no interviews. It mattered because I realized my generic resume wasn't getting past the automated filters at all. Has anyone else found a specific trick that finally got their application noticed by a real person?

Try putting the exact words from the job ad into your resume, like a secret handshake for the robot scanners. Foster.wade might be onto something with that black hole idea, but sometimes you just gotta feed the machine what it wants to eat. I started getting calls when I stopped sending the same sheet to everyone and made tiny changes for each place.
