The guy at the storage lot in Boise who saved my paint for $20
Rented a unit off Fairview Ave for my grandfather's 68 Chevelle back in March. The manager there, Dale, walked me through his whole setup, not just handed me a key. He said to put a tarp under the car, not over it, so the concrete sweat doesn't come up into the frame. I did what he said and 4 months later the underside looks the same as the day I parked it. Anyone else get a tip from a lot manager that actually worked?
Dale's tarp advice is solid but the reason is a little off. Concrete doesn't really sweat in the way people mean, what happens is moisture moves up through the slab and gets trapped if you cover the car. The tarp under lets air move under the frame so that damp air doesn't sit against the metal.
