Spent 4 hours trying to figure out why my old Roku remote kept dying, and the answer was so dumb

Figured the batteries were just cheap, but after swapping in 3 pairs of AAs from the kitchen drawer in one evening I finally flipped the thing over and saw a sticky gummed-up button was stuck down the whole time. Took me 4 hours and a trip to Walgreens for batteries I didn't need, all because I never once looked at the buttons. Anybody else ever chase a problem for way too long and miss the boring answer right in front of them?
