Can we talk about how a stranger at a bus stop in Tulsa got me hooked on The Tick after 20 years of ignoring it?
I used to roll my eyes at anyone who said a cartoon deserved more seasons. Then about two months ago I was waiting for the 5:40 bus in Tulsa and this guy in a faded denim jacket saw my phone case and asked if I watched The Tick. I said no, I thought it looked dumb, and he just laughed and told me the 2001 live action version got 9 episodes before Fox killed it. He pulled up a clip on his cracked screen and stood there in the cold explaining how the show mixed dumb jokes with real heart, and how they never even aired the last few in order. I went home that night and watched all 9 in one sitting, and I was mad by episode 4 that nobody ever told me. My wife found me at 1 in the morning yelling at the credits because it just stops mid story. Now I'm the guy telling strangers on the bus about it, so maybe the cycle keeps going. Anyone here have a show they skipped for years until some random person sold them on it in real life?
