Took me 3 hours to get that camp stove to stop flaring up

I was out at Lake Tahoe last month and my little two burner stove just would not stop with the giant yellow flames. I thought it was the fuel canister at first so I swapped it out. Still flaring. Then I realized I hadn't cleaned the jets in like 2 years. So I sat there with a needle for 45 minutes clearing out all the gunk. Finally got it running smooth but my buddies were already eating cold beans by the time I was done lol. Has anyone else dealt with a mystery flare up that turned out to be something stupid simple?

Did you try replacing the regulator valve on the hose? I had the exact same flare up problem on my old Coleman and spent forever cleaning the jets but it turned out the regulator was sticky from some old fuel residue. A new one cost me like 12 bucks at the hardware store and fixed it right away.

Huh, that's interesting but I wonder if the real issue is the O-rings on the hose connectors themselves. They get dried out and cracked over time and can cause inconsistent gas flow that leads to flare ups. Seems like everyone always jumps to the regulator or jets first but those little rubber rings are cheap and easy to swap.
