That REI return policy stat from a cashier in Boise changed how I look at my whole gear closet
I was chatting with a cashier at the REI in Boise last month while returning a leaky sleeping pad, and she mentioned that around 30 percent of the returns they process are items people used once and just did not like. I always assumed most returns were for real defects, but she said it is mostly buyers remorse because folks buy three tents and keep one. That bugs me because I have been babying my old gear for years thinking I was being smart, when really I could have just tested stuff and sent back what did not work. Do you all actually use the return window to try gear, or do you think that is kind of a scummy move?
