Question about those solar-powered lanterns for backpacking
I bought a $20 Luci light from REI before a trip to the Adirondacks last fall, fully expecting it to be a gimmick. But after 3 nights of using it to read in my tent, it never dimmed once and charged up in about 6 hours of sitting on my pack. Anyone else had good luck with these or should I look at something sturdier for wet weather?

Is it really that big of a deal if it dims a little early?

Yeah "is it really that big of a deal" is exactly how we keep letting stuff slide until everything's broken. It's the same with phone batteries or fridge lights that last a year instead of ten - we just accept the slow creep.
