My camp stove regulator gave out halfway through breakfast last weekend

I was making coffee and eggs at Grayson Highlands when the flame started sputtering and just died - turns out the regulator had rusted inside from a rainy trip two years ago. Has anyone else had a stove part fail unexpectedly on a trip and what did you do to finish cooking?

Oh man, I feel your pain @wright.cole, that happened to me two years back in the Linville Gorge and I had to cold soak my dinner. Now I never leave without a backup stove, it's just not worth the risk.

Used to think a backup stove was overkill but after seeing that happen to a buddy in the Smokies I always pack a cheap butane one now. Saved a trip last fall when my main regulator died too.

Yeah @holly_gonzalez61 knows what's up, cold soaking is rough. Cheap backup stove is totally worth the weight.
