Bought a $12 headlamp strap for my old flashlight and it beat my $60 camping light

I have a beat up Armytek flashlight from 2018 that I quit taking on trips because holding it in my mouth while setting up camp in the dark was getting old. A guy at the REI in Boise showed me a $12 elastic headband strap that holds any small light, so I strapped it on and used it for 3 nights in the Sawtooth Mountains. Now I'm wondering if anyone else has gone back to cheap strap setups instead of buying a whole new headlamp, and what strap holds up best in rain?
