After getting soaked at Yosemite last summer, I finally get why people hate those cheap rain flies

My $40 rain fly from Amazon basically turned into a sprinkler system during a storm at Upper Pines campground, drenching my whole tent at 3am. Has anyone else had better luck with those mid-range Sierra Designs flies or should I just accept that you gotta spend $100+ for something that actually works?

Literally woke up floating in a puddle from my "waterproof" fly last month, so I feel your pain.

It's funny how "waterproof" has become just a suggestion in everything now. My friend's "water-resistant" watch fogged up after a light rain, my "quick-dry" towel took four hours to dry, and don't get me started on that "indestructible" phone case that cracked on the first drop. Companies slap those words on stuff and hope we don't notice when it fails. Like, either make it actually work or just call it "splash friendly" and be honest.
