Vent: Took apart a 70s Pentax 35mm for cleaning and found a rusty paperclip holding the mirror mechanism
Was working on a Spotmatic that belonged to some guy's grandpa. The shutter was sticky so I opened it up. Someone had bent a paperclip into a spring and jammed it in there to keep the mirror from flopping. Worked for like 40 years apparently. I replaced it with a proper spring from a donor body but man. Has anyone else found weird jury-rigged fixes inside old cameras?

That paperclip spring probably outlasted the original part would have anyway.

Bet it took way longer to find that paperclip though?
