Update: I used a drop of olive oil on a stiff Hasselblad film advance lever...
The customer said it felt 'like butter' after, and I'm still waiting for it to gum up again after 3 months. Anyone else have a weird 'shouldn't work' fix that just won't quit?

Maybe the factory lube was the wrong one all along.

Had a Pentax winder that sounded like gravel. Used a tiny bit of synthetic bike chain lube on the gears. That was five years ago. Still smooth and quiet. Sometimes the "wrong" oil is just right for the job.
