Update: I bought a $400 ultrasonic cleaner for lens elements and it's a game changer
It got a decade of haze off a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 in one cycle, saving me hours of manual work. Anyone have a good source for the smaller, jewelry-sized baskets that fit tiny aperture blades?

Where did you get the cleaner itself? I've been looking at those for cleaning up old projector lenses (the haze is brutal on those). For the small baskets, try checking out suppliers for watch repair tools, they often have the tiny mesh ones that would work.

Just saw you're cleaning projector lenses with that stuff. The haze on those old things is basically glue made of dust and cigarette smoke. I tried one once and gave up after three rounds in the cleaner. You must have the patience of a saint.

That "glue made of dust and cigarette smoke" is a perfect way to put it, johns18. The_james has a good point about watch repair suppliers, they might have the tiny baskets you need.
