Tried using canned air vs a proper blower for sensor cleaning last month

Honestly, canned air just left residue all over my mirror and I spent an hour fixing it. The Giottos rocket blower did the job in 2 minutes - why do people even bother with the cans?

Used canned air once and it left this weird sticky film all over my sensor. Thought I ruined the camera. Took me way longer than an hour to clean it because I had to keep re-wetting swabs to get that gunk off. Still can't believe people risk that stuff on a sensor.

@stone.evan did you check what kind of canned air it was? Some of that cheap stuff has bitterant added to stop people from huffing it, and that leaves a nasty residue. I had a buddy who used canned air on his Sony A7III and it took him three swab passes to get the film off. He said the sensor looked fine after but he swore off canned air forever. Was it a name brand can or just something from a hardware store?
