Tried a hot shoe level vs a bubble level on my vintage kit last week
The hot shoe level I ordered for $12 was garbage, didn't sit flat and gave me crooked horizons on every shot. Swapped to the old-school bubble level I had sitting in a drawer and my framing is perfect now. Has anyone else had bad luck with those cheap hot shoe accessories?

Man my buddy had the exact same problem with one of those cheap hot shoe levels last summer. He was out shooting these old barns at golden hour, got all excited about the light, and then every single frame came out tilted. He said the plastic base was so warped it wasn't even sitting flush on the hot shoe. He ended up just taping a little bubble level to the top of his flash bracket with electrical tape and that cheap fix worked way better than the actual accessory.

Electrical tape fixes everything, man. That's basically a rule of photography at this point. I've got a roll in my bag right now holding a broken flash trigger together.
