That $40 lens cleaning kit I ordered was pure garbage.
Used it on my 50mm f/1.8 and left micro scratches all over the front element. Ended up paying a shop $60 to polish it out. Anybody else fallen for those cheap kits from online?

Did you see that thread on photog forums where a guy tested like 5 different budget cleaning kits? He found most of them actually had abrasive particles mixed in with the fluid. Honestly, I learned the hard way too after ruining a UV filter with one of those cheap lens pens. Tbh, I just use microfiber cloths now and a little breath, haven't had a scratch since. Ngl, it's frustrating how many of those kits are absolute scams preying on new photographers.

@grant_perry convinced me - honestly thought I was being careful with those kits but his test results changed my mind.
