Spent three days chasing a shutter squeak in an old Nikon F3

It was this tiny, high-pitched sound on the second curtain, and I swear I took the whole thing apart five times. I cleaned and relubed every guide rail I could find, but the noise kept coming back. Finally, on the third day, I spotted a nearly invisible burr on the edge of one of the curtain roller pins. A few passes with a fine stone and it was silent. Has anyone else had a simple noise turn into a multi-day hunt for a hidden mechanical flaw?

Three days for a squeak seems a bit much.

Honestly depends on what they're fixing, richard107. If it's just a loose floorboard, sure. But if that squeak is a symptom of a bigger subfloor issue or a joist problem, three days to properly diagnose and fix it without tearing up the whole house sounds about right. Everyone just hears the noise and thinks it's a five minute nail job. Could be a way bigger can of worms once they open up the floor.
