Nearly fried a Leica M6 last week. Watch those old batteries.
Found an old mercury battery in a customer's M6. It had started leaking inside the battery compartment. Check your voltage meters before you put any battery in a vintage camera body. Anyone else run into corroded battery terminals on old Leicas?

Did you check the voltage on that silver oxide before putting it in? I always meter them first because some of these Chinese knockoffs read way too high and can still mess up the circuitry. A little dab of DeoxIT on the contacts after cleaning saves a ton of headaches later.

Old silver oxide batteries are way safer than the old mercury ones. Learned that one the hard way years ago with a Nikon F2.
