I had to choose between a $200 part or a full rebuild on a Pentax K1000

Went with the rebuild and it took me three tries to get the shutter timing right, but now it's smoother than new. Anyone else ever go the long way on a simple fix?

Honestly, I'd have just bought the part. That rebuild sounds like a huge headache for one camera.

See that everywhere now. People just swap parts, don't fix things. My dad's old drill, the switch was shot. Could have bought a new one for fifty bucks. Took it apart, cleaned the contacts, good as new. Feels better knowing how it works.
