Hot take: I used a plastic spudger on a stuck lens mount and it actually worked

Honestly, I was working on an old Nikon F and the metal ring was seized solid. After two hours, I grabbed a cheap plastic spudger from a phone repair kit and gently worked it in, and it popped free without a scratch. Has anyone else had luck with non-traditional tools for stubborn parts?

Which part of the ring did you work the spudger into, the gap between the lens and body?

Yeah, the gap near the top, like sethc12 said.

Honestly, are we sure the gap is even a seam for opening it? I've seen some units where that's just a weird molding line in the plastic. Prying there could snap a hidden clip instead of releasing anything. Tbh the service manual for this model might show the actual opening points, because looks can really trick you.
