Heard a guy say he never uses isopropyl over 91% for sensor cleaning
Was at a camera swap meet last weekend and this old repair guy was telling someone that anything above 91% evaporates too fast and can leave residue on the sensor. I always used 99% thinking it was better. Now I'm wondering if I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Any of you guys stick to 91% for cleaning?

Wait, seriously? That old guy actually said 99% leaves residue? I've been using 99% for years on my Canon sensors without any problems. Now I'm second guessing every cleaning session I've ever done. Did he explain what kind of residue he was talking about?

lisa_murray I remember when I first started cleaning sensors back in 2012, I used store brand swabs with 91% and ended up with this weird haze on my old Nikon D7000. It looked like someone had wiped a greasy finger on a window. Had to send it in to get properly cleaned. The tech told me some alcohols have additives to keep them from being drank, and those are what leave the film. Have you ever looked at the ingredients list on your 99% bottle?
