Dropped $60 on a JIS screwdriver set and instantly regretted not buying one years ago
I kept stripping those tiny crosshead screws on Japanese cameras with regular Phillips bits and just assumed it was me being clumsy. Finally caved and ordered a proper JIS set after watching a repair video where the guy (who lives in Portland btw) explained the difference. First try on a seized shutter speed dial screw it bit in like butter. $60 for a set of 5 bits feels steep but honestly it already saved me from ruining another screw head. Anyone else resisted buying JIS tools for way too long?

Wait, you live in Portland too? That's wild, that repair guy's videos are exactly what convinced me to finally buy a set. I put it off for like two years because I refused to believe a screwdriver could make that much of a difference, but yeah, not stripping screws is worth the splurge.

Wait you bought the whole set after watching those videos? I swear half the comments on that channel are just people arguing about whether you really need the whole kit or just the one driver. I spent three weeks just watching his videos on repeat before I finally caved and got the set with all the bits. My wife still makes fun of me for how excited I got when I first stripped a stripped screw with it.
