A old timer at the Puyallup swap meet saved my Rolleiflex shutter with one weird trick
Brought my 3.5F to a guy named Walt at the Puyallup camera show last month, shutter was capping at 1/500 and I was ready to pull the whole assembly. He told me to stop messing with the tension screws and just run it dry for 200 clicks with no lube, said the old grease was dragging and adding oil would make it worse. Did exactly that over two evenings and the capping cleared up completely, saved me shipping it off for a $180 CLA. Any of you run into old Compur shutters that just need exercise instead of a teardown?

Love how the fix for a precision German shutter is basically just clicking it like a fidget toy until it behaves. Walt probably charges $180 for that advice too, but hey, free is free and it beats waiting six weeks for a CLA. Half the "repairs" on old cameras are just the thing needing to remember it still works.
