Vent: Had a job in a 1920s house with zero attic access for a second floor drop. My partner said to cut a hole in the closet ceiling, but I tried fishing from the basement up through a cold air return instead. It actually worked in under an hour.

Fishing through the cold air return is a solid move. Had a similar problem in an old bungalow where the walls were just brick and plaster. Ended up using a fiberglass push rod from the basement, following a plumbing chase. Took some patience but saved me from cutting open a finished ceiling. Sometimes the old houses just force you to get creative, right?

Yeah, the partner's "just cut a hole" plan is always the first draft. Like we're all just running around with drywall saws in our back pockets. Glad the cold air return worked out, those old houses are basically just a puzzle made of plaster and regret.
